American’s make more fresh flower purchases on Valentine’s Day than any other day of the year. 73 percent of those purchases are made by men. Of those, almost 40 percent are red roses. Why red? Legend has it the red rose was Venus, the Roman goddess of love’s favorite flower. Take note when choosing your rose hue this season! Each color stands for something — red signifies love, yellow stands for friendship and pink could mean either friendship or “sweetheart.” Americans spend nearly $1.7 billion on candy and chocolate sales for Valentine’s Day gifting. 141 million cards are exchanged during Valentine’s Day. 11 percent of Americans propose/get engaged on this love-ly day and Butterfly Wonderland is a perfect place to propose!
