Summer has just flown by, hasn’t it? It’s hard to believe that school will be in session next month and before we know it, September will be upon us! So it’s not too soon to arrange plans to join us for the Monarch Tagging Field Trip on September 18th from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For this field trip, we step outside the Conservatory — way outside — where we’ll learn about the Monarch tagging process and observe the butterflies in nature! We’ll be meeting in at Milepost 14 along Highway 83 near Canelo in Southern Arizona at 8:30 a.m. From there, we’ll be venturing through terrain that is mostly level, but with some uneven and rocky areas so be sure to wear proper footwear and attire. Other important items to bring along include your camera for some amazing butterfly shots to commemorate the experience, water, a hat and sunglasses, sunscreen, and snacks and/or a sack lunch. This field trip is the perfect opportunity for a fun weekend getaway in Southern Arizona! There are many beautiful spots in Southern Arizona, including wine country in Sonoita. Pre-registration is required, so please call 480-800-3000 to reserve your space. Cost is $15 for members and $20 for the general public, with proceeds benefiting our non-profit Butterfly Wonderland Foundation.
