Moms, this one’s for you! We know you’re looking for something fun to do with the kids this Spring Break… but you want your kids’ experience to be educational, too, right? We’ve got you covered! One of the best-kept secrets about Butterfly Wonderland is that it’s as educational as it is fun! (Shhhh… you can let the kids think it’s just for fun!) Our friendly docents are great at helping guests spot some of the most unique species in our sanctuary. Be sure to pick up a brochure before entering the Conservatory — it lists the most commonly seen butterflies in our rainforest atmosphere. Kids love tracking which ones they’ve seen and which ones they’re still trying to spot! Take a seat at one of the many benches and hold still — a butterfly may even land on you; they love bright colors! Seeing the butterflies flitting around will make your kids’ day, but having one land on them will really create an unforgettable memory!
Before you leave, the Emergence Gallery really deserves a double take… At first glance, it can appear that the chrysalis are simply models, but they are real! If you have a little patience and a lot of curiosity, this is the perfect place to spend some time watching butterflies and moths emerge in real time — a fascinating visual lesson for kids (and even adults!). Don’t forget the Rivers of the Amazon room. In addition to letting your children get in touch with our friendly stingrays in the touch tank, the large freshwater aquariums house African Cichlids, Amazon Pacu fish and myriad other colorful and exotic fish. We hope you’ll come and spend your Spring Break with us!
