Ever wonder why the Monarchs are tagged, and maybe more impressively, how? Come find out on our upcoming Monarch Tagging Field Trip on September 18th. We’ll be stepping out of the Conservatory for this educational adventure, so you may want to start planning a weekend of it! We’ll meet in Southern Arizona so if you want to make the most of this trip, stay in nearby Sonoita or Patagonia. At 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, we’ll observe Monarch butterflies’ behavior and learn how to tag them. The terrain throughout this experience is mostly level; however, there are some uneven rocky areas so proper shoes are recommended. Bring a hat, plenty of water, sunscreen, a sack lunch and of course, your camera for some great nature shots! The cost is $15 for members and $20 for the general public, with proceeds benefiting the Butterfly Wonderland Foundation. Pre-registration is required so please call (480) 800-3000, ext. 210 to reserve your space and to receive specific directions to the meeting point. We hope to see you there!
